Match report by James Harrison
The weather was a complete contrast to last week, but fortunately the performance wasn’t, with Bayern carrying on where they left off with their slick passing and clinical finishing.
A particularly large crowd turned out today for the home fixture, and following a perfectly observed minutes silence they didn’t have to wait long for the first goal, with a dinked pass from Luka B into the in-form Mason, who finished accurately past the opposition keeper. Shortly after, Albie shot wide from close range and should’ve really scored. The chance was quickly followed by a break from Stony Stratford resulting in Lewis being lobbed by a superb finish.
A few minutes later Albie missed a couple of good opportunities.
With Billy entering the field, Bayern continued to attack down both wings with both Billy and Mason firing some lovely crosses into the box, one of which was from Mason finding Charlie who smashed the ball past the keeper. Another assist/goal combination from Mason and Charlie. Not long after a tricky cross from Billy was converted for another Charlie goal, his second of the match.
Whilst the attacking players are stealing the headlines, credit must be given to Luca F, Alexander, Leo and Luka B who are all so efficient at winning the ball back and distributing the ball from defence and midfield. Luka B especially, was showing some amazing skill in the centre of midfield and playing some beautiful passes through the channels and out wide for the attacking four.
Bayern were constantly probing down the wings and Billy and Mason could have both added to the tally before half time.
In the second half Bayern were rewarded with an early goal from a corner ball taken by Albie which was whipped in beating the keeper on his near post.
A controversial penalty was awarded to Stony Stratford when the ball hit the hand of one of the Bayern defenders, who was protecting his face. There were absolute scenes when Lewis managed to save the penalty, but parried the ball back into the box providing Stony Stratford to follow up on the rebound for what looked like a certain goal from 3 yards out. Through some sort of miracle, Lewis managed to keep the rebound out with an unbelievable save with his left foot, pushing the ball wide of the post.
A few minutes later, another great corner from Albie was converted after a loose catch from the keeper which was bundled into the goal from Mason, who was waiting on the back post for his second of the day.
Albie was unlucky not to score a second when he blasted the ball over the bar from the edge of the box. Leo was also unlucky with a shot from distance.
The goal of the day came from another Mason Charlie combination. It was a training ground move, with a strong run from Mason down the left-hand side, followed by a decent flighted ball into the box to Charlie who managed to volley the ball firmly into the net to complete his second hatrick in two games.
Luca F unselfishly took to goal and Luka B dropped into defence with Alexander to give Lewis a chance out on field. Lewis was desperate to score in front of his two uncles that had come to spectate and he was very unlucky not to convert on a couple of occasions because of some fine goal keeping from Stony Stratfords number 1.
In the dying seconds of the game Luca F pulled off a great save which was followed by the final whistle.
A great performance all round and arguably three or four players were deserved of the Gartec player of the match award, Lewis included for his double penalty save, however the award for the second week running was given to Charlie for his second hatrick in two games. Well done to Charlie and another fantastic performance from Bayern.
Next week we visit Olney.
