Flamengo win 4-1 at home to Tattenhoe Yellows

MKDDL U12 Division 8
Linslade Galaxy U12 Flamengo 4 v 1 Tattenhoe U12 Yellows

Flamengo kicked off in great conditions for football, knowing that they needed to continue their fine recent form if they were to have any chance of finishing in the top two of the division.

In terms of possession and territory the match was definitely dominated by Flamengo, but Tattenhoe Yellows battled really well and the first half was quite a tight affair.

It didn't look like this was going to be the case when Galaxy went two goals up. The first goal came from a quick throw-in, which Elliot picked before getting past a couple of defender to chip home from 6 yards. The second came from great work from Charlie P down the right and his cross found Arthur, who struck neatly with the outside of his foot to double Flamengo's lead.

Tattenhoe, however, did not give up and they looked pacey in the attack. In one move their striker sped into the box and his shot went across Jasper and hit the far post. Another Tattenhoe player hit the rebound and Jasper saved brilliantly. Unfortunately, the first striker was on hand to strike home on this occasion.

The first half ended 2-1 to Flamengo and they knew they still had a match to play despite dominating proceedings. Fortunately, the second half was even more in favour of the home side with Tattenhoe not troubling Jasper at all. This was down to a great attacking performance, keeping the ball in the other half, but also the defence stepped up a notch and Axel, Charlie W and Luke neatly mopped up any through balls.

Flamengo scored two goals in the final 15 minutes to ensure all three points were secured. Firstly, Nathan delivered a lovely corner which Benjie tapped into the bottom corner. Then Charlie P provided another assist and Micah was on hand to strike home.

Charlie W was awarded the Players' Player of the match for his great defensive performance, whilst Micah's two assists earnt him the Manager's Player of the match.

Overall, a good performance from Flamengo, who cemented their third place in the league and kept open their hopes of a top two finish.
