Five different goal scorers see Spartak ease to win

MKDDL U13 Division 1
Bedford Town FC U13 0 v 6 Linslade Galaxy U13 Spartak

In cold and dreary conditions Spartak faced a Bedford Town side who despite being bottom of the table were dangerous when they got their passing game going. They had proved to be a formidable opponent in the reverse fixture when only late goals earnt the three points for Galaxy.

Unfortunately for Bedford, they appeared to be missing their No.1 goalkeeper and this ultimately cost them a couple of goals, but Spartak were on good form and playing confidently they would have dominated the game regardless.

After just 3 minutes Mali pressured the defender, got the ball and neatly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to open the scoring. Then after 11 minutes there was more pressure from Spartak. The ball came across the 18 yard line. Matthew turned neatly and curled in an effort that took a very slight deflection to take it out of the reach of the Bedford keeper and inside the far corner to double Linslade's lead.

Overall, it was a first half dominated by Galaxy, but further action involving Matthew and Luke W did not result in a third goal. Firstly, Luke W's effort was spilled by the keeper. Matthew was on hand to pick up loose ball, but the keeper recovered well to block his effort. Then, on the half hour mark, Matthew took a free kick from 20 yards. The keeper saved well and Luke W tucked in the rebound but the goal was chalked off in a very tight offside call.

Bedford were limited to a couple of efforts. Indeed, it took until the 27th for Bedford to have an attack of note but Thomas did well to come out and bravely block the onrushing striker.

Spartak themselves will be disappointed that their territorial advantage did not lead to more chances and at 2-0 both teams still felt they could get something out of the game.

Indeed Bedford came roaring out of the blocks in the second half and early pressure from led to three corners. The final one resulted in a strong Bedford header which was always going over.

The sucker punch for the home side was when Luke broke forward five minutes into the half. He passed to Kiro, who in turn fed Jack, whose shot went under the keeper to add a third to the score sheet.

Only 7 minutes later there was another Spartak break down the right and this eventually led to Jack turning in the box and smashing the ball from 6 yards. The keeper saved well but Johan was on hand to head in the rebound and make the scoreline 4-0.

This sweet spell for Galaxy continued into the 15 minute when Johan found himself free in the box and smashed it home from 8 yards.

Three goals in just over 10 minutes knocked the stuffing out of Bedford and ended the match as a contest. However, to Bedford's credit they continued to probe forward. Their best chance of the match came 21 minutes into the second half, when some good attacking play led to a shot from 15 yards that was fired over.

As the match drifted to its conclusion Kiro upped his level and looked dangerous whenever he had the ball. Firstly, he showed great positivity in his run down the left wing and he delivered a dangerous cross, which the Bedford defence half-cleared to Theo who shot wide from 20 yards. Then after great 1-2 passing from Theo and Owen, Theo slid the ball into the box to Kiro, who made no mistake to score Galaxy’s sixth.

In the end this was a comfortable win for Galaxy. It might not have been Bedford Town's best team on the pitch today, but Spartak could only play that put in front of them. They did this today very well and can look forward to a very tough away fixture at TFA Lions next Saturday for their penultimate league match of the season.
