1. Our History

The club was founded in June 2006 by a group of parents who wanted their children to be part of a football club that was founded on excellent practice and placed an equal value on enjoyment and success.

With the backing of a local Headteacher, Linslade Greenleas FC started with five teams playing in local leagues, all led by FA qualified coaches operating from Greenleas Lower School and Liscombe Park.

By November 2006 we had achieved the FA Charter Standard* – only the third club in Leighton Linslade to do so and went on to receive the Bedfordshire Football Association’s ‘New Charter Standard Club of the Year’ at the end of our first season.

Over the past 7 years, we have continued to expand and membership currently stands at around 130. To reflect this expansion and our broader reach across the town and surrounding villages, we changed our name in May 2010 to Linslade Galaxy FC. We remain proud of our beginnings and continue to maintain a close link with Greenleas Lower School with our U6 development squad and U7s based at the Derwent Road school.

We regularly receive recognition for our commitment to safeguarding children and fairplay. In 2011 we were extremely proud to receive the inaugural Football Association’s Respect Award for Youth Football in Bedfordshire.

* The FA Charter Standard is a quality kitemark which recognises and rewards good practice. It is awarded to clubs that are well run, sustainable and where child protection, quality coaching and safety is paramount. Clubs are required to renew their Charter Standard annually.
