Match report provided by Dave Oatley
Great Linford only had 4 players, so the Inter players took turns in playing for the opposition against their own teammates so that we could go 5v5 for the whole match.
Barnaby started as our goalkeeper and carried on where he left off last week with a confident performance with the gloves and also some great distribution from his goal kicks. He played the first 2 quarters in goal for Inter and then the third quarter in goal for Great Linford making some good saves for the opposition as well.
Arlo was our first volunteer to play for the opposition and he had a great game in midfield for both teams. Arlo has bags of energy and puts in some strong tackles all over the pitch, it was great to see him dribbling the ball quite a bit today as well.
Edward volunteered to start the game on the subs bench and then swapped for Arlo halfway through the first quarter to play in midfield for the opposition. The same as Arlo, Edward showed great energy throughout the game and put in some really important tackles. Edward showed what a great team player he is and real maturity as I'd promised him a go in goal for the third quarter and then put James in goal instead, but then Edward very nearly saved the penalty when he finally got his chance as goalkeeper in the fourth quarter. It was great to see Edward looking a lot more confident on the pitch and today he earned the player of the match medal for his hard work and a good performance.
James found his shooting boots today and knee slide celebrations were worth the entrance fee alone.
Kai is starting to show that he will be a real asset for the team in defence and midfield. Again, it's good to see the confidence starting to show with the ball at his feet, dribbling out from defence and some good passes to his teammates. I might be biased, but I think that Kai was player of the match for Great Linford when he played in defence for them in the last quarter of the match - he seemed to be enjoying himself so much playing against his own teammates that I left him there for the whole quarter instead of swapping after 5 minutes.
Liam was carrying on his good form in front of goal and his ball carrying skills were on full show again this week, but I was really impressed with the crosses and passes that he played into the oppositions penalty area using both feet with equal ability.
Last, but certainly not least, was Morten. I think that he is going to make a great defender as he seems to have a natural ability of being in the right place at the right time. Morten made some good, solid tackles, dribbled confidently and looks to make some good passes to his midfield teammates.
Overall it was a great team performance and already seeing how the boys are improving each week. Not only are they all gaining confidence on the ball, but their positional play and decision making (when to pass and who to pass to) was a great improvement on their first game last week.
