IZZY SHARP WINS CLUB PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR FEBRUARY

IZZY SHARP WINS CLUB PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR FEBRUARY

Philip Stanley6 Mar - 20:54

Izzy's desire and willingness to help the team earns her this month trophy

A huge congratulations to Izzy Sharp for winning the Linslade Galaxy FC Player of the month award for February! Izzy plays for our U11 Bobcats team.

Trade Sales Manager (North), Neil Marsden, from Gartec, the trophy sponsor, and who chose the winner out of the team players of the month, said, "With all that rain and mud we have had that's a good call to be in goal and enough to be voted player of the month".

Izzy was put forward for the award by her team coaches for the following reasons:

"Although results haven't been great through the month, Izzy is someone who always puts 100% into her performance and sets a great example for others in the team, showing desire to get a hold of the ball and make something happen in a match. She is also always among the first to put her hand up and offer to go in goal when we need it."

There were plenty of other excellent performances in matches and training across the Club throughout February and these are recognised by many of the coaches, who put forward these players as their team's player of the month.

Luca Snapes (U8 Inter)
"Luca is a fantastic defender and almost single handedly snuffs out most opposition attacks with some huge tackles and bravely blocking shots on a regular basis. Luca always gives 100% effort in training and in matches and plays with the biggest smile on his face whatever the weather and whatever the score. For the last match in February, we were missing a couple of players who normally score a lot of our goals, so Luca had to play in an attacking midfield role. Luca took to the new position like a duck to water and finished the game with 3 goals to his name".

Elspeth Cusack (U8 Meerkats)
"Not only has Elspeth scored in back-to-back games, she's also shown fantastic dedication to her training - even dashing across town from her school disco just to make sure she didn't miss a session! That commitment speaks volumes. We've seen some brilliant recent improvements in her first touch and her ability to play with her head up, linking up more effectively with her teammates while still keeping that natural eye for goal. In one match she produced an incredible recovery run to stop what would have been a certain goal, just pure determination. She's even lost a shoe in the line of duty on the pitch, but that didn't slow her down! Well done Elspeth — fully deserved. Clearly none of your talent comes from your Dad’s side of the family!"

Freddie Edwards (U10 Atletico)
"It feels like Freddie has been with us since the start. He fits into our squad like a glove. He can play in many positions. Freddie takes on board what we try to teach/show and gives it his all. We can never fault his effort and attitude. If something does work, Freddie keeps trying and he keeps going. He doesn't give up. We can see his confidence growing with each training session. Keep it up Freddie - awesome work".

Joseph Johnston (U10 Rojas)
"Joe always puts maximum effort in and has been asked to play further forward in the midfield recently and is really thriving. He gets stuck into the challenges, jumps on loose balls and runs at the defenders well. His behaviour is always excellent, never grumbles when he's on the bench and is a great example to the other boys. Well done Joe, keep up the great work!"

Darcey Anderson (U11 Bobcats)
"Darcey had returned after Christmas with renewed confidence on the pitch and played some lovely football, topped off with a goal and player of the match to end January".

William Johnson (U12 Barca)
"This is Will's first season with Barca and he has hit the ground running, Will is a great member of the team and puts in maximum effort in training and games, Will has lead the line well up front helping set up and score several goals, well done Will's keep up the good work".

Charlie Kane (U12 Bayern)
"This month's Player of the Month goes to Charlie Kane after an outstanding performance which was capped off with a superb hatrick in the game against Willen Panthers.

Charlie has been in fantastic form this season showing great determination, movement and confidence in front of goal. In our only game of February, he found the back of the net 3 times against a good side in Willen Panthers in what was a brilliant display of finishing ability — composed in front of goal, sharp in the box and always looking to be in the right place at the right time. But what's impressed us most this month hasn't just been the goals — it's Charlie's work rate, attitude and commitment to the team.

He's training hard and constantly looking to improve. Charlie leads by example on the pitch and gives 100% every game. Well done, Charlie — a fully deserved Player of the Month award! Keep working hard and enjoying your football".

Izzy Falk (U13 Jaguars)
"Izzy has had a fantastic month helping to spearhead the Jaguars strong season. Traditionally an all-action winger, Izzy has switched to striker for a number of games and has been electric. Her work rate never gives the defenders a break and her form has led her to score bundles of goals for the team. As well as applying herself in matches - Izzy leads from the front in training. She is always keen to demonstrate drills and puts in 100% at all times. She has introduced a warm up this year which allowed the coaches to focus on setting up the session whilst her and the captain warm the team up. A fantastic month and season - Izzy really is spearheading the jaguars challenge for the title!"

Evelyn Cusack (U13 Lions)
"Evelyn turns up at every single training session and match with a positive and supportive attitude, and a determination to improve and help the team. Evelyn has carved out an important role as a central defensive midfielder, and uses her strong tactical knowledge to position herself well, to communicate with others and to intelligently distribute the ball. Evelyn is also braver than ever at meeting the ball in the air - which is something we have been working on as a team. Evelyn is a well-liked member of the team, who is at every session, and who is passionate about working on celebratory dances with team mates and rolling her eyes at her/Dad coach when tries to be funny!"

Sienna Arnold (U13 Panthers)
"Since joining the Panthers, Sienna has shown remarkable growth in confidence and has established herself as a vital member of the squad. Known for giving 100% in every match, she consistently threatens the opposition with her explosive speed and strong runs down the wing. Her ability to beat defenders and deliver clinical crosses into the box—combined with her willingness to take a shot when the opportunity arises—makes her a constant offensive threat. A thoroughly well-deserved Player of the Month".

Aoife Read (U14 Lynxes)
"Aoife usually plays in our defence but for the last three games Aoife has stepped up to play goalie for the team. She has been excellent between the sticks and made some brilliant saves. Mostly notably captaining the team to our first win of the season keeping a clean sheet, completely denying the opposition on several occasions. Aoife's also been a great team motivator, using the position of goalie to observe the game and help her team with advice. She has shown the true Lynxes spirit, win or lose she’s stayed positive, ensuring the team have kept their chins up and enjoyed their football. Well done, Aoife".

Well done to all the nominated team player of the month - keep up the great work!
