Both teams score great goals in topsy turvy game

(Many thanks to Aimi McGilloway for the match report)

Another early start, in freezing conditions, saw the Flamingos travelling to MK United hoping to regain their winning form. From kick off it was evident the teams were very evenly matched, and the close score line throughout the game made for a tense game. The first half started with Galaxy dominating with some great link up play between Lydia and Sammy, to see two shoots on goal saved by the Keeper. Jasper was then quick to add a further chance with a header from a cross that went wide.

On the counter attack the Galaxy midfield and defence made some noticeable clearances, Charlie battling hard in midfield, and Axel clinically clearing wide. On the occasion the ball did beat the defence Tom was ready to make a well-timed run out of goal to save the ball on the edge of the box on a one on one with the striker.

A long and deep goal keep met Antosh upfield who dribbled to the edge of the box and executed a pass to Sammy in space who found the net, with a calm strike in to the bottom left.

Not long after the dynamic duo of Antosh and Sammy stuck again, and Antosh's assisted Sammy again with his second goal which was a belter that the keeper didn't have a chance to save.

The opposition, didn't drop their heads and were quick to grab a goal back, and continued to pressure the galaxy defence for the remaining ten minutes. Tom made a further save, and Galaxy were lucky to see several goal opportunities by MK United, shots on goal miss the target to keep their lead at the close of the first half.

The second half brought more tension and further goals from both side, showing again how evenly matched the teams were. Half time substitutions saw Benjamin, Lucy, Luke and Jacob on pitch, and Lucy had her most confident game of the season, battling hard and making some key challenges to thwart the MK United opposition from getting near to the goal.

As always Luke and Jacob both ran their socks off, Jacob attacking down the right wing to try and find Luke in the box, and Luke also made some key attacks but was just unlucky not to have the time and space to get a shot away.

Benjamin made his mark with his majestic left foot, and a remarkable shot from just inside the half way line, that looked to be going in but found the top left cross bar. Had it gone in, it would have surely been a contender for goal of the season even by premiership standards!

A further chance game when Luke passed back to Benji in space and this time wasn't denied. The lead then went from one team to the other - this was nail biting stuff, with ten minutes to go. Jacob snatched a goal and celebrated with a stylish knee slide (thankfully the ground had thawed!). Then, MK United grabbed the last goal. The final score line a fair reflection of the game, with the teams evenly matched, and both deserving of the win.

The Gartec player of the match was Lucy Wilson for her fine performance and confident tackling.
