(Many thanks to Coach, Andy, for the match report)
Saturday 28 September
Linslade Galaxy U12 Porto 1 – 4 Newton Longville U12 Lions
After a superb first half display, Porto came unstuck in the second.
The first half was full of pressing and shutting down, with the team showing real purpose and desire to work together and defend from the front. It was from that battling they got their chance and Tom scored with a great finish from outside of the box.
In the second half they were unable to build on that momentum and continue from where they left off. They were quieter and couldn't build any rhythm. The away side wanted it more.
At the end of the day, we will learn from both halves in different ways. Lots of positives to take from the first half display, but in this division turning up for one half isn't enough, and it showed that if you don't fully commit you get punished.
Callum and James were joint POTM. Callum, for his control and slick passing in the first half, and James for his constant determination and battling in defence.
The team need to keep their heads up as we move on to the next game.
