(Many thanks to Coach, Andy, for the match report)
Tuesday 12 May
MKDDL U13 Division 2
Linslade Galaxy U13 Porto 4 – 7 Buckingham Youth Rovers
It was a real game of two halves as Porto were left frustrated in their final match of the season.
Unfortunately, it wasn't the ending Porto had hoped for. The first half, however, was full of promise. Porto showed great character to come from behind, equalising twice before taking the lead going into the break. Hugo converted from the penalty spot, with Ryan and Aiden also getting on the scoresheet.
Fin stepped in as goalkeeper and produced a hat‑trick of strong saves in the first half, helping Porto stay on top.
The second half told a different story. Two early goals from Buckingham stunned Porto and shifted the momentum. Despite this, the team once again showed resilience, with George pulling one back to keep hopes alive. At that stage, the next goal felt crucial. Unfortunately, it went the other way, as two more goals in quick succession took the game out of reach. Further chances for Porto went begging, and a late goal put the result beyond doubt.
Porto showed strong spells of positive play, but second half too many passes went astray, and we couldn't clear danger effectively.
Players of the match were Hugo and Stan. Hugo put in a strong first‑half performance, getting to the ball early, playing forward, and competing well throughout the game. Stan grew into the game, delivering crosses, winning a penalty, and supporting the attack.
The result was disappointing after such a strong first half, but the team's commitment has never been in doubt. There have been highs and lows this season, and now is the time to reflect, learn, and come back stronger.
