Saturday 28 February
MKKDL U13 Division 2
Linslade Galaxy U13 Porto 6 – 1 Stoke Hammond Youth U13 Warriors
After a month stuck on the sidelines thanks to waterlogged and frozen pitches, Porto returned to action with a bang with a 6–1 win over local rivals Stoke Hammond Youth Warriors, matching the scoreline from the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
Porto started brightly despite the long layoff, taking a deserved 2–0 lead, through Jack and Stan's smart strikes. But after easing off, a bit of rustiness showed, passes went astray, and they invited the visitors back into the game. The visitors took their chance and pulled one back, making it 2–1 at the break.
Porto came out with renewed energy and took control in the second half, as Jack scored two more goals to complete his hat-trick. Even when Stoke Hammond were reduced to 10 players through injury, Porto didn't let up, continuing to attack and create more chances. Tom rounded off the scoring with two nice goals, and the forward play could have produced even more. It was good to see the team improve as the game went on, and good to see the through balls and strong defending.
Player of the match was Jack, whose pace and clinical finishing saw him complete a brilliant hat‑trick.
There's still room to sharpen up, but if Porto bring the same hunger into the coming weeks, alongside more talking they will be in a good place to finish the season strongly.
