After comfortably progressing through the group stage Linslade Galaxy Spartak were confident going into the knock out stages.

In the semi-final against Ensign Youth, Spartak were the superior side and took a two goal lead. Firstly there was some great passing from Owen to Luke W and then onto Matthew, who slot home. Then, Dylan scored from a thunderous freekick from within his own half!

The game was made more difficult than it needed to be when Thomas was tackled in his box and Galaxy conceded a soft goal 2-1, but Galaxy held on to reach the final.

Spartak faced a strong Cray Valley team in the final, which ended up Goalless with no clear chances for either team. Spartak played better in first 6 minutes then Cray Valley upped their game for the remainder. So it went to penalties.

And so Galaxy were denied right at the very end. It was a particularly hard one to take when later video footage revealed Luke’s effort had actually gone in.

But the players can be proud of their efforts in what was a great experience to visit and play in a professional stadium.
