U15 SPARTAK CLINICAL IN HOME WIN AGAINST TFA LIONS

Spartak took on Northampton based TFA Lions, in this division one clash, knowing that it will need to be a formidable effort if we were to get anything against last season's league runners up.

After storm Amy had battered the UK the game was switched from our grass pitch onto the 3G and we kicked off in autumnal sunshine and very strong winds cutting across the pitch.

Both teams, to their credit, kept the ball on the floor and the first half would be a tight affair with TFA edging possession but not being able to penetrate the well drilled Spartak block. Thomas was marshalling the back 4 well and commanding his box every time the dangerous TFA number 8 was clipping balls in behind our fullbacks.

15 minutes into the game Jack Jay regained possession in our own half and fed Theo, who slipped a perfect ball through to Ethan who calmly found the corner of the goal (1-0). TFA were still having good possession but couldn't get any change from our defense of Niall, Dylan, Caelan & Joseph and our strong midfield pairing of Tycho & Jack Jay.

The first half finished with Spartak on top with a goal disallowed for offside and a great move on the left leading to Matthew turning a defender and unluckily hitting the outside of the post. Half time 1-0.

Second half and Spartak certainly went up another gear and started to control the midfield and it wasn't long before we added a second. A well placed corner was pounced upon by Ethan who ruffled a half volley into the roof of the net (2-0). Blake, Jack R and Owen were now dominating the midfield with Mali sitting just in front of them. A nice move down the right hand side led to another corner and this time it was Blake, making his debut ,who arrived late to sweep a right footed effort past the keeper (3-0). TFA continued to probe down the flanks but Sergio & Elliot proved too strong for them and they were left with speculative long range efforts. As TFA pushed men forwards it left gaps and Jack R was able to expose this with his pace as he got in behind the centre backs and fed Matthew, who effort rifled into the top corner and ended the contest (4-0).

A clinical Spartak performance in difficult conditions and a great start to the season from the boys.
