U7 INTER MAKE IMPRESSIVE LEAGUE DEBUT

U7 INTER MAKE IMPRESSIVE LEAGUE DEBUT

Graham Black25 Jan - 19:47

Inter u7s travelled to Cranfield for their first ever league match on a sunny but very cold morning.

Match report provided by Dave Oatley

James put the gloves on to do the first quarter in goal and Arlo, Barnaby, Edward, Kai, Liam and Morten were all raring to go when it was their turn out on pitch. Both teams put a lot of effort in and there were chances at both ends, but neither team were able to capitalise with both goalkeepers making some good saves.

Barnaby took the gloves for the second quarter and stayed in goal for the rest of the game, making some great saves and bravely diving onto the ball at the opposition strikers feet on several occasions. His ball distribution from the penalty area was excellent starting off numerous Inter attacks.

Morten held the back line of our defence for a good chunk of the game, making some good tackles and dribbling the ball up the field when he got the chance.

Edward, Arlo and Kai all played in midfield showing great energy doing both their defensive duties and also getting up to support the attack when they had the chance. It was really good to see how hungry they all were to press the oppositions defence and midfield and set up our attacks.

James took up the front line of the attack when he came out on pitch and got into some really good positions. He was unlucky not to get onto the scoresheet having quite a few shots either saved by the goalkeeper or narrowly missing the target, but I am sure that he will be getting quite a few goals as the season goes on.

Liam played as our striker, but also tracked back well making some important tackles. He made some great runs with the ball throughout the game and was awarded the Gartek player of the match medals for his goals and taking his chances well.

The game was played in great spirit and all the players left the pitch with a big smile on their face and looking forward to next week's match.
