Louie's passing and defensive work earns him Player of the Match award

(Many thanks to Coach, James, for the match report)

Linslade Galaxy Barca U8 hosted Southcott Owls U8 today for a local derby and also Barca's final home league game of the season. Quite a large crowd was present at Cedars to watch what was a very enjoyable game that was closer than the final score line suggested.

Barca were a bit slow out of the blocks this morning (end of term-itis?), which allowed Southcott to start playing some nice football in the first quarter. In the second quarter Barca got on the ball much more, and started to ask Southcott some questions, which culminated in a goal for Olly. Barca maintained their focus and pressure on the opposition for the remainder of the game and managed to bag another three goals (one from Rudy and two from Alex).

Coach James and Coach Glenn were really impressed with the work rate of all players - they all put in a proper shift, with no subs to replace tired legs. Tyler was magnificent in goal - Southcott created chances - but the bravery between the sticks by Tyler kept them at bay. Joseph and George showed their usual defensive composure and Louie put in a great performance of tackling and clearing. Captain Alex, Rudy and Olly worked really well together as a forward three, and the passing and movement between them was excellent to watch.

The Gartec Player of the Match was Louie, who was not only really solid at the heart of the defence, but also delivered some great passes to his team mates - doing what we were trying to coach the group on Thursday!

Well done Barca - you were all brilliant again! Coach James and Coach Glenn are so proud of the way you have played this season. One more game to go - let's go out in style!
